Andrii Kostiv was born on 10 December 1985.
He was a profoundly kind and sincere person with a big heart. He was very fond of sport, especially football. Football was his lifelong passion and brought him many friends. He played for numerous teams and took part in many competitions.
In 2014, when the Anti-Terrorist Operation began, he joined the 24th Separate Mechanised Brigade named after King Danylo of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He defended the east of our country and was honoured with awards for his service.
Andrii had the heart of a warrior and lived by thewords: ‘Who if not me.’.
When the full-scale war began on 24 February, without a moment’s hesitation, he stood up to defend his homeland once again. He went to war determined to make a difference, eager to learn and help others. Andrii had the heart of a warrior and lived by the words: ‘Who if not me.’

He was posthumously awarded the 3rd Class Order for Courage, the Cross of the Hero, and the Saint George Badge of Honour.
Sadly, war takes away the best ones, regardless of age or status. His name deserves to be remembered with honour.
